I used AI Creator and my own Sodaro images to explore how a support system for Oakland businesses could look. AI helped me visualize the concept; my research and ideas guided it.

. I created a prototype with two main tools: a step-by-step permit guide and inspection preparation. People can explore the app and share what should improve. I will create a 3D print to get viewers more interact with the prints.

Research came first

I began as a food blogger and connected with Oakland business owners. My first Sodaro step was a research PowerPoint about what I was learning: slow days, high rent, and the challenges of staying open.

I pictured the idea

I tested AI Creator with my own photos to explore what a tool for Oakland business owners could look like. It helped me turn my research into a visual direction for Sodaro.

My professor helped me focus

After talking through the bigger idea with my professor, I removed extra features and focused Sodaro on two tools:

Start an Oakland business: A step-by-step guide to choosing a business structure, such as an LLC, and learning about names, zoning, permits, and city registration.
Prepare for an inspection: A photo-based concept to help connect a possible issue with relevant Oakland city code and explain it in plain language.
